June 2, 2021 Ticonderoga, NY – The Ticonderoga Revitalization Alliance is pleased to announce that they have received a $10,000 grant from The Adirondack Foundation’s Generous Acts Fund to support its Students in the Field and Internship and Summer Job programs.
This grant will be used in partnership with funding from the Pearsall Foundation to help fund the part-time program coordinator position that is key to the success of these programs. This spring the Students in the Field program brought Ticonderoga High School students to eight job sites to explore exciting careers in the area and resulted in a number of students being hired by employers who hosted trips. The program is set to resume in the fall due to its success. The Internships and Summer Job program directly connects students with local employers for summer jobs. Facilitating this connection allows employers to cultivate a sustainable workforce of youth eager to work. Students develop valuable professional skills through summer internship, seasonal employment, and even permanent positions for 2021 graduates. This year, over 20 applicants are being connected with employment opportunities right here in the community as a result of the program.
“The Adirondack Foundation recognizes the importance of retaining our youth and providing attractive employment opportunities in our community. This spring Ti-Alliance has taken a very active approach to creating face-to-face experiences between students and employers with the personal links that result in filled positions,” said Ti-Alliance Executive Director Donna Wotton. “The support of the Adirondack Foundation and the Generous Acts Fund has enabled us to have a staff coordinator that can dedicate the many hours required to pull all the details and players together for successful field trips, job fairs, and coordination with our school counselor partners. We’re incredibly grateful for the support of all of our partners in this program, and especially to the Generous Acts Fund for their generosity.”
