Ti-Alliance Awards $31,000 in Skilled Career Training Scholarships

July 23, 2024 Ticonderoga, NY — The Ticonderoga Revitalization Alliance has announced that it has awarded $31,000 in Skilled Career Training Scholarships to five Ticonderoga High School graduates for the 2024/2025 school year.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024 Ti-Alliance Skilled Career Scholars on their graduation from Ticonderoga High School. Robert O’Neil will be attending SUNY Schenectady County Community College to study Aviation Science. Sydney Pelerin will be attending SUNY Canton to study as a Veterinary Technician. Mason Tuthill will be attending SUNY Canton to study Construction Management. John Woodard will be attending SUNY North Country to study Wilderness Recreation Leadership.

Kimberly Wojcik, a Ti-Alliance scholar from the class of 2023 has transferred to SUNY North Country to pursue her nursing degree after a very successful year at Erie Community College where she earned straight A’s in her courses. She remains on a Ti-Alliance scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year.

Ti-Alliance would also like to congratulate two students on the completion of their programs. Andrea Cooke graduated from SUNY Adirondack with a degree in Accounting. You might see her assisting at the Ticonderoga Animal Hospital and is considering pursuing farm animal veterinary medicine in the future. Jack Michalak graduated from SUNY North Country with his degree in Nursing. Jack is working as a nurse right here in our community.

“We’re so proud of all of these students and what they have accomplished in school. The Alliance is committed to supporting them both financially and with mentoring as they pursue their chosen fields,” said Donna Wotton, Executive Director of Ti-Alliance. “It is exciting for us and the contributors to the scholarship fund to be able to help these individual students while doing the important work of building and retaining a skilled workforce for our community. Please join us in congratulating these bright young people on their accomplishments.”

The goal of these scholarships is to encourage students in our community to pursue careers in skilled trades, remove the barriers to the education needed for these careers, ensure student success, and hopefully have these students live and practice their trades in our community. The Ti-Alliance scholarships can cover the costs of tuition and non-tuition costs such as room and board, transportation, books/tools/supplies, certification or other exam fees, and child care costs. Each scholarship represents a commitment to the student for up to two academic years or the length of their program.
